Derrick Mason To Return For 2009

Derrick Mason will return to the Ravens to prepare for the 2009 season.  He had previously announced his retirement before camp opened, but will return to practice on Sunday after having missed only two days of practice.

The Ravens were left scrambling after Mason announced his retirement and stop gap Drew Bennett retired due to injury before joining the ravens.  To the Ravens credit they did not overreact which left the door open for Mason to return.  Mason will playout his current contract (at least for this year) despite some speculation that his retirement was a ploy to leverage his way into a new or reworked contract.
